The Jacaranda School for Orphans

Mareie da Silva and Jacaranda school students

Lynn was born in Malawi, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Blantyre. For many years she had a longing to return and give something back to her birth country. So in 2015 she contacted a number of schools in Malawi to ask whether she could do some charity teaching. Marie da Silva from The Jacaranda School for Orphans contacted her and invited her to the school... So later that year she set off for Malawi.. to begin an adventure that still continues..

During 2016 and 2017 Lynn and Terry had a major input into the Jacaranda School for Orphans. Working with Marie and her husband Luc Deschamps, we took alcohol awareness education into the classrooms. Alongside Chief Chigmula we spoke to and discussed with the adults in the village the devastating effect alcohol has on many families. The culmination of our work with Jacaranda was the raising of funds to buy hundreds of new text books for the school.
